Empties #1

Wednesday 18 September 2013

This is my first ever empties post, a few reasons for this - 1. I have to throw things away pretty much as soon as I'm done, 2. I forget to keep them & 3. I don't really finish much up which might sound strange.

After that thrilling ramble I only have 9 products, I can't remember what time period I've collected these over but it does make me think I need to start using more items up!

Noble Isle Willow Song bath & shower gel
I know some people view samples as cheating when it comes to empties but I used it and it is now empty so...it counts. This was a sample I got from a beauty box, I'm one for sweet scents so I was very surprised when I smelt this as I didn't think I would like it. I used this just as a shower gel and the scent lingered for a decent amount of time after. I may have to look into the full size. I would direct you to the website for notes as I honestly have no idea how to describe smells!
Benefit They're real!
Another sample I got from the Latest in Beauty advent calendar last year. My first time trying this mascara and I love it. Curling my lashes and then using this they look so much better then they have before, I have since purchased the full size.
Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
The first full size product, a lip balm. I don't really have much to say about this one, it was an alright balm but didn't really keep my lips moisturised for that long. This could just be me though as I seem to have a bit of an addiction to lip balms and need to reapply them every 5 minutes!

Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth
The first of 3 S&G products, again this brand is something I have an addiction to. I'm already looking forward to their Christmas gift sets! This body lotion lasted me ages, there is a little bit left but I have tried and I just can't get it out! This is one of their typical smells, so good and it left my skin feeling so soft. I did find that it took a while to sink in, apart from that a very nice lotion.
Soap & Glory Flake Away
I got this little pot from a gift set but I really enjoyed it. It wasn't a super harsh exfoliator and it also softened my skin at the same time meaning I didn't always have to moisturise after, bonus! Again this has one of their signature smells that I do love.
Soap & Glory The Scrub of Your Life
I really really love this scrub, it was almost a mixture of scrub and shower gel. When using this I didn't need to use a shower gel as this also soaped up and I felt squeaky clean with just this. This was also from a gift set but it is on my list of full size to get.

Lady Gaga Fame
I first tried this from a sample that came in a beauty box and surprisingly loved it. It is quite a heavy scent and one I'd say if definitely for this time of year. I think I've gone through about 2 bottles of this already with a 3rd sat waiting.
ESPA Lift & Firm Intensive Eye Serum
This also came from the Latest in Beauty advent calendar along with a sample moisturiser. I did not like this, I struggled to get through it. For a small sample there was a hell of a lot of serum in there! I hated the smell, a herbal scent and the consistency was really watery. From this sort of size I can't imagine any results would show so I can't say if this works or not.
Garnier Ambre Solaire Golden Protect SPF 30
Finally a sun screen. I mostly used this when I went to Italy last year and finished it off this year. As I am nearly translucent I thought this would be nice as it has a shimmer to it so even though I won't be tanning I will have a nice sparkle. I did enjoy this more than the normal white lotion and would recommend this just for the sparkle.

So there is my first empties, not an amazing or insightful post but it has made me wonder how I have so many products yet never seem to finish any....strange.

Kawaii haul

Wednesday 11 September 2013

As a little treat to myself after struggling through and completing my first Uni assignment, I placed an order for some Sentimental Circus items. I bought from shop kawaii which is an American site as I can't seem to find what I want from UK ones.

Sentimental Circus are characters from San-X, a Japanese brand known for their cute characters. I'd also like to apologise for the poor quality photos, not my best work but the light at the moment is awful....or so that is my excuse and not the fact I really just can't take a good photo.

Anywho, here is my rather large haul.

Shappo card cushion - $49.95 (£31.81)
This is 16" by 12" with a pink backing, as the tags are in Japanese I have no idea on material but it feels nice! This is currently out of stock on this site but I have seen it on others such as ebay but for an awful lot more. Another cushion to add to my collection which is currently residing on my bed, so comfortable.

Little extras that were thrown in, 2 badges, 3 stickers and a pocket file (is that the name?). Not my kind of design but possible to come in handy at some point.

Sailor A4 plastic folder & Carousel A4 plastic folder  both $2.99 (£1.90)
I don't know what it is about stationary but I just can't help myself, as you will see. I got these (and the others) to help keep tidy all my bits of paper floating about.

A4 5 index plastic folder & Accordion A4 5 index plastic folder - both $6.99 (£4.44)
Both these folders have 5 separate areas to store paper, the accordion one is currently sold out.

A4 2 pocket folder - $5.99 (£3.81)
This instead of having separate files has 2 pockets on each side, I really do find the cover adorable!

A6 notepad midnight & A6 ladder to the moon - both $8.99 (£5.72)
Both of these are hard cover, 5.8" by 4.1" so quite small notebooks. These hold 160 lined pages. Again, I was drawn in by how cute they are, such a sucker.

B6 notebook, B6 sailor & B6 magic - all $8.99 (£5.72)
All are hard covers, 7.1" by 5" so bigger than the others but still not massive. These hold 120 lined pages. Sadly I already know what I will be filling them with.

 Sailor drinking glass - $12.99 (£8.26)
4.3" by 2.5", a little glass but so cute and the packaging is just as sweet.

I also got 4 mugs, I didn't need any but you know, just in case I ever do I will be set!

TL - Sailor mug - $22.95 (£14.59) 3.3", a baby mug but I prefer these as I find normal sized mugs hold much coffee.
TR - magic card mug - $22.95 (£14.59) 4.7", is that a bit bigger than a normal mug size? Either way I really love this design.
BL - Circus mug - $24.95 (£15.86) 4.7", not sure why this is more expensive.
BR - Amusement park mug - $22.95 (£14.59)

Finally I ordered 4 packs of stickers. Now, at my age no, I am not playing with stickers but I got these for resin pieces. For a couple of years I have been making jewellery from resin, I've put an example below of what I will be using these for.

TL - Magic card stickers - $3.99 (£2.53)
TR - Carousal stickers - $6.99 (£4.44) These were more expensive due to the little gems and the thickness of the stickers.
BL - Midnight stickers - $3.99 (£2.53)
BR - Magic card stickers 2 - $3.99 (£2.53)

Here is an example of how the stickers will be used, this is one of my favourites I've made so far.

And that I believe is that, a long post but I did get quite a bit. No doubt I will be purchasing again at some point!

For any of those wondering, kawaii is Japanese for cute. It is quite a big culture and I for one enjoy it very much.
