MEMEBOX #1 Night Care

Thursday 29 January 2015

Box description -
'Your pre-slumber beauty plan has never been so good! Your body repairs itself and night, and this box makes sure to optimize your precious 8 hours of sleep to ensure that you wake up to a flawless complexion, smooth skin, and soft-as-silk hair. It perfectly caters to all your nighttime beauty needs to rejuvenate, replenish, and repair your skin, hair, and body all while you catch up on so z’s. Enjoy!'

This box cost $35.99 which includes postage and contains all full size products. Very impressed with this box. If you're interested in getting a box you can see what is available here although some boxes do sell out quickly.

Heart Face Ultra Pore Care Sleeping Pack 100ml - $14 (£9.35) exp: 26/11/16
'Carefully formulated through the science of fermentation, this Ultra Pore Care Sleeping Pack carries 100% concentrated ferments from galactomyces and natural herbal complex, hyaluronic acid, and aloe vera to deeply nourish and rejuvenate the skin overnight to reveal suppler, firmer skin. The non-sticky formula absorbs quickly and smoothly and also helps treat acne prone skin.'
Sleeping packs are to be used as the last step at night, they're supposed to keep all of the moisture you've just given your skin in. I'll try this as it should be used but I feel I might use it without a moisturiser as it could be too heavy with both for my skin.

MYPU; Black Pearl & Gold Velvet Gel Eye Patch 1.1g x 60ea - $30 (£20.03) exp: 11/11/16
'Each Black Pearl & Gold Velvet Gel Eye Patch is formulated with a blend of premium collagen, hyaluronic acid, black pearl extracts and other essential concentrates to keep your under-eye skin moist, soft and firm. Revive a healthier you by deeply soothing and treating dark circles and fine wrinkles under eyes!'
These smell so good, peaches I think it is, also very pretty. Obviously the 2 most important things to be looking for! I've used gel patches like this before so I'm looking forward to trying these out. These are to be used after cleansing and to be left on for 20-30 minutes, after removal pat in the remaining essence and you're done. The pot also comes with a pair of tweezers to get the patches out instead of needing to use your fingers.

AVEC MOI Mask 4 Set 8g,16g,16g & 4.5g - $33 (£22.03)
Shea Butter Special Care Foot Mask 16g exp: 07/11/16
'This is a deeply moisturizing foot mask enriched with shea butter, macadamia oil, vitamin E, and fresh herbal complex to replenish and soften dry, calloused skin on your foot. Its gentle formula is free of paraben, benzophenone, artificial pigment, etc.'
These are little socks you put on, massage the essence in and leave on for 15-20 minutes. Once removed pat any remaining essence in and your feet should be softer. The packaging for the packs is so cute, anything with a little face on I'm a sucker for.

Intensive Nail Pack 4.5g exp: 30/07/16
'This Intensive Nail Pack is made with cacao seed butter, milk protein, hydrolyzed bean protein, hydrolyzed collagen, honey, macadamia oil, and more naturally derived ingredients for delivering intensive moisture resurge and rich nourishment to dry, cracked nails.'
These are little tips that you put on after washing your hands, after 15-20 minutes remove and pat in any remaining essence. My nails are in good condition but my cuticles could probably do with a but more care.

Pony Tail Silky Treatment Pack 8g exp: 05/12/16
'Experience hair salon results at home with a rich blend of pito collagen, bean protein, silk protein, botanical plus-10, argan oil, olive oil, shea butter, and royal jelly. This hair treatment pack is easy to wear with no need to rinse off afterwards and most importantly deeply nourishes, softens, and strengthens your hair dehydrated and damaged from all those years of blow-drying and hair dyes.'
To use you tie your hair up into a high pony tail and place your hair into the pack, tying it up with the elastic provided. Massage in and leave for 15-30 minutes. Remove and dry the wet hair, now I don't use a hair dryer so I will see how this works with air drying.

Camellia Special Care Hand Mask 16g exp: 07/11/16
'This is a pair of replenishing hand masks formulated from a nourishing blend of camellia extracts, collagen, vitamin E, argan oil, and natural herbal complex. They’re easy to wear and leave dry, rough hands significantly softer and suppler.'
Basically these are gloves are used in the same way as the nail pack. I over wash my hands so this time of year they are quite the mess so looking forward to seeing how moisturising this mask is.

I like the thought of one use products like this as they won't be something you use all the time, I also don't believe that all 4 of these packs can cost $33!

Tosowoong Natural Pure Snail Essence 60ml - $24 (£16.02) made on: 24/09/14
'With its formula consisting 20% of pure snail mucin filtrates and 40% of fresh birch tree leaf water, this Natural Pure Snail Essence from Tosowoong is a miracle worker for skin brightening and anti-wrinkle results. It not only moisturizes and firms up dry, sagging skin but also helps fight all sorts of skin problems – acne, blemishes, uneven moisture & oil balance, etc.'
This is used after toner and followed by emulsion and/or cream so I'm guessing this is like a serum? You can tell I'm clueless when it comes to skincare. Oil balance and blemish fighting always sounds good to me so we shall see if my skin likes snail goo.

D'RAN Wonder Lifting Eye Cream 25g - $35 (£23.37) exp: 30/06/17
'This Wonder Lifting Eye Cream from D’Ran will brighten and firm up the dry, thin skin around your eyes. Enriched with a moisturizing blend of beta glucan, macadamia see oil, argan oil, jojoba seed oil, and EGF, it gently protects the sensitive skin while replenishing and balancing out the skin tone from within.'
Eye creams don't really excite me but it seems a nice enough product which really it should be for the price!

Switch Patch Elephant 3-step! Black Head Nose Pack 7g - $3 (£2) exp: 08/16
'This is an easy 3-step nose pack for opening up, unclogging, and tightening back your pores for treating excess blackheads on the nose. The step 1 is a cotton mask sheet enriched with witch hazel water, lemon balm extracts, and grapefruit extracts and works to melt and extract the excess blackhead and sebum. The step 2 is a peel-off type nose pack made from lemon extracts and aloe vera leaf water. Lastly, the step 3 bio-cellulose mask sheet stretches out 8cm and effectively soothes and firms back the enlarged pores with a gentle blend of lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus extracts.'
A 3 step nose pack, all 3 I think are like nose strips so shouldn't be too difficult to use! This targets my number one problem but after doing some research it is apparently not possible to remove all blackheads as they are, basically something some people just have. This is very depressing news as I hate mine but I will still try to get rid of them just because I am that stubborn.

Definitely my favourite box so far, there isn't anything in here, bar the eye cream maybe that I won't be using. I like the variety of products and the packs which are hassle free to use.

Memebox so far hasn't disappointed so hopefully they will continue to release great boxes and not go the route of the subscription boxes.

Did you get this box?

MEMEBOX Special #58 Beauty 911

Tuesday 27 January 2015

The second box I ordered from Memebox, if you're interested in trying out Korean skincare you can see the boxes available here. There are quite a few available at the moment so plenty to choose from.

This box was $29.99 plus $6.99 for standard shipping. I have given more information here along with what's inside the Global #16 box.

Box description -
'Bad hair days, vicious zits, hangover days, days when it's just so obvious that you've partied way too hard the night before - we've all been in that situation when we would've killed for a beauty emergency kit. Smart us, we've curated the perfect all-inclusive beauty box to save you in all your beauty predicaments, and put an end to all the madness.'

Yadah Anti-T Spot Cream - 15g $15 (£9.90) exp: 01/03/17
'This Anti-T Spot Cream boosts a fast-absorbing, creamy formula enriched with cactus, green tea, rosemary, aloe vera, and sage extracts and completely free of paraben, benzophenon, mineral oil, sulphate, artificial coloring, and animal ingredients. Its gentle, naturally-derived ingredients are non-stimulating on even the most sensitive skin types and they effectively treat red spots and blemishes for a cleaner and clearer complexion.'
This has arrived just in time to help combat my recent plague of spots. I currently use Tea Tree Oil which does help but I like to try different things in case something works better.

Neogen Miracle Lighting Eye Lifter - 15ml $30 (£19.81) exp: 08/06/17
'This cooling roll-on type Miracle Lightening Eye Lifter is a total eye-care phenomenon that addresses all aging eye care concerns in all-in-one! Massage this roll-on applicator along the under eyes to gently distribute toxic build-up from underneath the eyes to revitalize, smooth, brighten, de-bloat, and lift the eye area. It contains adenosine, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid to constrict the fine blood vessels that cause dark under eye circles and gives the overall look of exhaustion. It is also packed with loads of anti-aging ingredients, to recapture lost volume and increase the collagen production to reduce fine lines! Best recommended for dark under eye circles, under eye wrinkles, bloated eye lids, crows feet, and sagging eye lids.
Apparently this can also be used around the mouth which I'll probably not be trying out. I'm currently using another eye roller which feels really nice when I put it on but balls throughout the day so is obviously not sinking in. Hopefully this one will be different as it would be nice to touch my face without it falling off.

 Mise En Scene Perfect Repair - 70ml $16 (£10.56) made on: 18/08/14
'This highly-concentrated Perfect Repair is to be used before and/or after blow drying to give your hair the silky, well-nourished finish. It's enriched with 7 different natural oils - argan, camellia, olive, jojoba, coconut, apricot, and marula - and its oil-like formula quickly absorb into the hair without making it sticky or greasy.'
I won't be using this product, I don't ever blow dry my hair and currently have enough hair oils to last me for the year. I'm sure this could be used without the need to blow dry but I'm good for hail products.

Vella Blind Sun Stick Protector SPF50+PA++ - 16g $18 (£11.89) exp: 29/11/16
'UV protection is a beauty essential nowadays with UVA and UVB rays being responsible for sagging skin, fine lines & wrinkles, dulled complexion, and even stimulated & damaged skin conditions. This Blind Sun Stick Protector can be easily rolled on and it'll leave the skin feeling super soft and matted. Thus, it can be applied under or over makeup, as many time as needed, and as often as possible for a 100% protection against the skin's biggest enemy.'
I've not opened this but I've heard it looks like a deodorant stick. I won't be using this, I know you're supposed to wear sun screen even on cloudy days but I don't really want to. I'm very much a vampire when it comes to daylight so I'm happy to risk leaving out SPF.

Shara Shara Bee Tox Toner - 130ml $19 (£12.55) exp: 24/12/15
'A mist toner for acne prone skin types. It's formulated with bee venom extracts, propolis extracts, and tee tree oil, all well-acknowledges soothing treatments for relieving blemishes, controlling excessive oil and sebum, and refreshing the skin for a cleaner, clearer complexion.'
This will be added to my skin care routine although I'll use it on a cotton pad rather than misting onto my face. Anything that fights blemishes and oil control is most welcome. Also intrigued that this contains bee venom extracts, not heard of any products containing this before so very interested if this will help my skin.

Cheek Room Lip Balm 05 Cherry Clover - 12g $12 (£7.92) made on: 15/09/14
'Cheek Room's adorable Lip Balm Clover is a true multi-player for not only moisturizing dry, chapped lips but also plumping up and reviving the suppleness of dulled-out lips. The olive-oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil formula works to nourish and protect as well.'
This reminds me of lip balms I had as a kid, this looks very jelly like so will be interesting to see how the fares to the usual balms I have.

I also received a golden ticket in this box which gave me $3 off my next purchase which works out as half the shipping cost. I've already used this on a couple of new boxes which I'll be putting up posts on soon.

Overall I'm most excited about the toner and spot treatment, the other things are good but a couple of them I won't be using. Still a good variety of products and all full size.

Bomb Cosmetics Haul

Sunday 25 January 2015

This is my first order with Bomb Cosmetics, I have tried a few of their products before but thought it was about time I explored what else they had to offer...this translates to mostly candles. I have to say I enjoyed the packing things more than I probably should have so A+ for that.

Got a free air freshener in orange blossom and jasmine which is cute although it looks quite faded so hopefully it still holds some scent.

Onto the haul -

Candy cane - £4. Scent -  candy cane scent along with notes of sweetened caramel and vanilla with pure frankincense and cinnamon essential oils. Burn time is approximately 35 hours.
Scones & cream - £7.99. Scent - lemon sherbet, vanilla and butter biscuit with geranium and rose pure essential oils. Burn time is approximately 45 hours.
Cherry bakewell - £7.99. Scent - no description of notes but contains clary sage and bergamot pure essential oils. Burn time is approximately 30-35 hours.

Cherry pop - £6.99. Scent - ripe cherries, juicy grapes, almonds & cherries and vanilla. Also contains pure essential oils but not noted which ones. Burn time is approximately 35 hours.
Very berry - £7.99. Scent - fresh green fragrance blending red fruits, raspberries, grapes, blueberry and juicy pears. Also contains vanilla and rich caramel with black pepper and lemongrass essential oils. Burn time is approximately 35 hours.
Snowberry cupcakes - £4. Scent - festive berries, glazed in caramel and sugar with pure myrrh and ylang ylang essential oils. Burn time is approximately 35 hours.

Cherry bathe-well gift pack - £12.99. Contains cherry bathewell blaster, summer cherry soap, apple cherry choo choo, sweet cherry pie blaster, very berry creamer. I think this is a good way to try out different items but with the same scent. Also makes a great gift.

Cherry pie bath mallow - £2.24. This contains cocoa and shea butter so should be moisturising which I have found is the case with the other mallows I have used.
Snowflakes on your tongue - £1.15. This contains natural butters so again should be moisturising and should have quite a fruity scent.

Cotton candy bath blaster - £2.29. This is a typical bath bomb that fizzes in the water, I think the pink swirl top will contain some butters so again moisturising like the mallows.
Stocking fizzer blaster - £1.15. I hope this smells as good as it sounds, strawberries and champagne, delicious. Another bath bomb but with some glitter which I hope doesn't prove a pain to remove!

Goodness gracious green mad hatterstea - £8.99. Scent - lime, apple, lily, vanilla, musks and geranium & bergamot oil. Burn time is approximately 35 hours. A very sweet idea and once the candle has burnt out you have a teacup and saucer.

I think I got a bit carried away with the candles but the scents just sounded too good to pass on. Everything can be found here and they currently have a sale on all Christmas items if you were still in the festive spirit.

Have you tried any of these products?

MEMEBOX Global #16

Thursday 22 January 2015

After giving up on Glossybox and Birchbox I thought I would give Memebox a go, although not a subscription service it still provides the surprise of not knowing what you'll be getting. Memebox contains 4-7 full size and deluxe samples of Korean beauty products, skin, hair, body care and makeup. Boxes are released regularly so you need to keep checking the sight to see what's new.

This box contains all full size items which makes for a nice change. Being new to Memebox I have read up on other posts about the boxes to get an idea of how products are used and I came across a couple of queries, the prices and expiry dates. It seems the prices given on the card are what the products go for in the Meme store but if you shop around you will most likely find them cheaper somewhere else. Just a note that if you find something you like don't be put off by the price. Some products have quite short expiry dates which is possibly due to having the stock for a long period of time. This could be a problem with getting the products used up in time. I will give expiry and manufactured by dates where I can. I have found some information on the Meme site about these dates -

'Korean skin products are a little different than European/American products in that instead of providing an expiration date, they most often put a "manufacture date". So if you see a date that has already passed, it usually means that this is the date the product was manufactured. Your product will still be good for 12 months after opening.'

Below is a little translation of what you may find on your product:
  • ”까지” means "good by" as in it is “good until [specified date]”
  • “제조” means "manufactured on" as in “made on [specified date]”

This box is the Global #16 and contains 7 items, it cost $29.99 with $6.99 shipping (£24.42). I picked standard shipping which takes 10-20 business days but you also have the option of express which is 3-7 days and costs $18.99.

Box description -
'Always anticipated, and always bringing excitement, Memebox Global is back for the time! Packed with all your beauty essentials, this box is packed with goodies that 16th will keep you waiting on your toes! This edition is worth over $100 in retail value.'

Onto the box -

RiRe Style Black Head Brush Cleanser & Skinny Black Head Closing Serum - 40ml & 20ml $18 (£11.89) exp: 14/07/16 (cleanser)
'Packed with black food complex - black rice, black beans, black sesame - rich in protein and iron, the Style Black Head Brush Cleanser effectively removes any oil, dirt, blackheads, whiteheads, dead skin cells, and skin impurities clogging up the pores and delivers improved firmness and skin elasticity by tightening up blackhead-less pores. Then, the Skinny Black Head Closing Serum provides the perfect 2nd step oil control and pore care for maintaining a well-balanced skin condition.'
Very interested in trying this out, blackheads are my main skin concern so anything that can get rid of them would be a miracle! The cleanser is dispensed by pushing the button on the side, if the brush does it's job I may keep it to use with other cleansers. The serum is to be used after to close up the pores which I'm guessing will help with keeping the skin clear.

  Elizavecca Shrink Lifting R Pro - 120ml $28 (£18.49) exp: 15/08/17
'Oil-based and non-sticky, Elizavecca Shrink Lifting R Pro is a cream for your swollen calves. It works to literally 'shrink' the size of calves by relieving stimulated skin and increasing skin elasticity & firmness. Its gentle yet effective formula consists of mandarin extracts, coffee extracts, sage oil, peppermint, winter green, and mate leaf extracts.'
This is something that I don't have a need for, I work in an office so am sat down for majority of the day. If this is something that interests you but you can't get hold of I know The Body Shop did a leg gel a few years ago which they may still do.

 Hair + Velvet Nutri-Injection - 12ml $5 (£3.30)
For all those damaged hairs out there, the Velvet Nutri-Injection is here to save the day! There's absolutely no need to rinse after application. Simply apply it throughout your hair, especially the damaged ends, after towel drying, and experience results of a hair clinic program!
Not exactly sure what this is supposed to do, I'm guessing moisturise. I have waist length hair so I'm not sure if this will cover all of it but I'll give it a go. While my hair isn't that damaged a little moisture couldn't hurt.

Unni Recipe Vitamin Recharger Mist - 130ml $15 (£9.91) exp: 23/03/17
'Quench skin's thirst and brighten up dull complexion with Unni Recipe Vitamin Recharger Mist enriched with 6 different vitamins and hyaluronic acid. Plus, it's completely free of paraben, benzophenon, mineral oil, alcohol, tri-ethanol, and artificial coloring, thus making it gentle enough to be used by all skin types.'
This could be quite nice to use throughout the day at work, the air in the office is so dry that this would be a nice treat for my skin.

Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream - 45ml $24 (£15.85) made on: 10/07/14
'A light, fast-absorbing gel cream consisted 74% of snail mucus extracts which work to soothe and de-stress while moisturizing, nourishing, and firming the skin for a gentle, non-irritating blemish & wrinkle care.'
Not sure how something can be a gel and a cream....This is to be used as the last stage in the skin care routine. I believe snail mucus helps with the cell turnover and skin repair but I could be wrong. Snail mucus seems to be quite popular at the moment so looking forward to seeing what this can do for my skin.

 Delskin Centella 90 Power Ampoule - 30ml $14 (£9.25) exp: 05/12/15
'Over 90% of this facial ampoule consists of Centella Asiatica extracts, world-renown for its intensive soothing and repairing agents highly gentle and effective on sensitive skin suffering from stimulated, reddened spots or blemishes. Rejuvenate dry, tired skin with one of Mother Nature's best gifts!'
To be used day and night before cream, this looks like a gel consistency in the lovely glass bottle. At the moment I seem to be plagued with spots so this will be great if it helps with the redness.

Very happy with this box and the variety of products. I hope to get a proper skin care routine going this year so which will include some of these products.

The Koreans are known for their long skincare routine so knowing where and how a product is to be used can be quite confusing so here are a couple of people that I have been looking to to find out more about the products -

http://www.harlotbeauty.com/ Rachel does unboxing blog posts and has a lot of knowledge on Korean products.
Kelly Collins Kelly does unboxing videos and explains what the products are for and where they are to be used in the routine.

If your interested in Korean beauty check out the Memebox site where you can purchase a box or look through there store for a particular item. I think this is a service which I will be sticking with for the foreseeable future.

The end of the beauty box....?

Monday 19 January 2015

I've been subscribed to Birchbox and Glossybox for a couple of years but when my subscriptions were up for renewal in November I just didn't bother. I realised that it had been quite some time since I was last excited about receiving a box and that really I had grown disinterested in them all together.

I recently had a clear out and the majority of things thrown were products I'd received in these boxes, such a waste but they were items I just had no interest in. Obviously not everything I received was awful and I haven't had to buy a cleanser since I subscribed but for all the good I realised it really wasn't worth the money I was spending on the subscriptions. My biggest problems with the boxes were the perfume samples which I know a lot of other people hated getting as well and the variety of what I was receiving. Body lotion being the main culprit, I had a whole box of them! Even though I had filled out my profiles to my preferences I was receiving products which didn't match what was on my profiles. The novelty had worn off and after seeing reviews from people on the last couple of boxes I know I'm not missing out on anything.

Currently I'm trying out Memebox which is a service where you receive Korean skincare products. I'll also keep purchasing any boxes that The British Beauty Blogger releases. These 2 so far seem to be better value for money and the products are ones that I will actually use.

I've got some Memebox posts coming up and here are some posts of the previous BBB boxes if you're interested in what to expect -

BBB dreambox 2
BBB Christmas edit box 2013
BBB edit box 2013

Has the novelty of these boxes worn off for anyone else?
